Going Fully Virtual in Conceptual Thinking

This paper explores the feasibility of making both art and the space where the art is presented fully virtual, free of material form. Seeing as the contemporary art has been turning conceptual since the mid-20th century, have the technologies opened the path for it to be fully virtual in the 2020s? Is the human cognitive and neural system ready for such a turn in perception? If the millions-year-old socio-physiological ties to the environment are broken, can the artistic messages be consciously reconfigured? Converging on the topic from both practical and philosophical perspectives, we try to draw attention to the issues and to provide essential outlines for the answers.
